Injuring this character? AU game, vidya logic, so p much the same answer as above since there's no real difference.

Torture (physical/mental)? Ask ahead of time if you want to do some serious plotting like that BUT generally I will say yes because I am a cruel mistress.

Death? PERMADEATH so no, please. Near death is okay.

Reading this character's mind/emotions/memories? AU game, no spooky nonsense here.

Mind control? Yep, still an AU game.

Anything you should know?
He doesn't have his wave patterns/face tattoos anymore and only wields one sword, but besides that his appearance is unchanged.

AU backstory includes his bff Yasuhiko/"Orca" having been a high-level beta player, so if your character was also a beta player who might know other beta players I guess they're free to recognize the name.
